Battery Energy Storage Systems

Supporting the next generation of resilient, efficient, and flexible energy infrastructure.

Providing Reliability and Resiliency

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), store electricity for later use. For commercial developers, municipalities, fleets, property owners, and energy infrastructure operators, BESS can help support site resiliency, manage peak demand, strengthen electrical infrastructure, and improve flexibility as energy needs grow.

TAIT provides nationwide, in-house support for BESS infrastructure projects. Our team helps clients evaluate sites, coordinate utilities, manage permitting, develop civil and electrical infrastructure, and support construction through activation.

As power demands increase across commercial, transportation, and municipal environments, battery energy storage is becoming an important part of modern energy infrastructure. TAIT helps clients plan and build BESS sites with the technical coordination needed to move complex projects forward.

A Good Project Starts with a Good Site Inspection

An experienced TAIT team member will evaluate proposed BESS locations to verify key project requirements, including:

  • Existing and proposed electrical infrastructure
  • Utility service and interconnection considerations
  • Site access and equipment placement
  • Grading, drainage, and civil infrastructure needs
  • Equipment pad and foundation requirements
  • Fire access and safety-related site considerations
  • Security, fencing, and access control needs
  • Permitting requirements and local agency coordination
  • Construction feasibility, schedule, and site constraints

Turnkey Support for BESS Projects

Our in-house capabilities include:
  • Site feasibility review
  • Project planning and budgeting
  • Civil infrastructure support
  • Electrical infrastructure coordination
  • Utility coordination
  • Layout and engineering support
  • Permit coordination
  • Construction management
  • Equipment foundation and site preparation
  • Electrical installation support
  • Site activation support
  • Ongoing maintenance coordination

BESS Planning Process

  • Site Walk – Review existing conditions, project goals, utility access, site constraints, and equipment placement needs.
  • Layout and Proposal – Develop a site-specific layout and scope of work for the BESS infrastructure.
  • Utility Coordination – Coordinate with utility providers to support project planning, service requirements, and interconnection needs.
  • Engineering – Support civil and electrical layouts, equipment placement, grading, drainage, foundations, and related infrastructure needs.
  • Permit Coordination –
Coordinate with local agencies and authorities having jurisdiction to support permitting and approval.
  • Civil Work – Prepare the site for BESS equipment, including grading, trenching, foundations, access improvements, and related infrastructure.

BESS Execution & Support Phase

  • Electrical Infrastructure – Support conduit, cabling, electrical infrastructure, and equipment connections required for the BESS site.
  • Site Activation Support – Help move the project from construction completion toward operational readiness.
  • Maintenance Support – Provide ongoing support to help maintain reliable site infrastructure after activation.
